Almasa Al-Nasea Jewellery

Welcome to Almasa Alnasea’s gold market update for Friday August 7. What a week it has been. Gold has risen about 6% — its strongest week since January — and now trades near $4,270 per ounce, up from $4,070 on Monday. The cause is wonderful news for the whole region: real progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Today also brings America’s big jobs report, which could move prices again. Here is our warm and honest guide to what happened and what it means for you.

Today’s prices:

24K: ~$137.30/gram | 22K: ~$125.85/gram | 21K: ~$120.15/gram | 18K: ~$102.95/gram

What happened this week? Iran announced an understanding with Oman on a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz — the clearest step toward peace in the whole war, with a joint statement now being finalised. Oil prices fell on the news, which means less inflation ahead, which means America is now expected to raise interest rates only once more this year instead of twice. Lower rates make gold more attractive, so it surged — over 4% on Wednesday alone.

What this means for you, honestly: Gold is now about 24% below its January record. A 50-gram necklace costs approximately $2,133 less than at that peak — still meaningful value, but the saving has narrowed from $2,460 on Monday. In plain words: gold became more expensive this week, and if peace continues, analysts expect $4,500 to $4,900 by year-end — higher still.

Our honest guidance:

If your wedding or occasion is soon: buying now remains wise. Waiting has cost about $320 on a 50-gram necklace just this week — and prices may continue rising if the peace holds.

If you are flexible: today’s American jobs report (this afternoon our time) could briefly pull prices back toward $4,200 if it shows strong hiring — a genuine second chance worth waiting a few hours for. If the report is weak, gold will likely rise further.

For long-term savers: this week proved gold’s deep strength. Even while ordinary investment demand sat at its lowest in years, central banks kept buying every month — and gold still surged. The world’s most careful institutions never stopped trusting it.

A small caution: The peace is not finished. This morning Iran’s parliament discussed restrictions on some ships, and oil bounced back a little. Prices can move both ways quickly.

A warm thought: This week brought the region its best news in many months. Whatever today’s report brings, the direction of events — toward open waters and calmer days — is one we welcome with all our hearts.
