Welcome to Almasa Alnasea’s gold market update for Monday August 3. We are pleased to open the new month with genuinely hopeful news. Gold is steady near $4,070 per ounce as the US paused its planned airstrikes on Iran, talks may begin this afternoon, and — wonderfully — ships have started moving through the Strait of Hormuz again. Prices remain attractive, and the outlook is brightening. Here is our clear and welcoming guide.

Today’s prices:

24K: ~$130.75/gram | 22K: ~$119.85/gram | 21K: ~$114.40/gram | 18K: ~$98.05/gram

What happened over the weekend? The US called off major airstrikes that had been planned for Sunday night, after its allies in the region asked for calm. President Trump says talks with Iran begin today and that a deal on the Strait of Hormuz is close. Iran says it is not talking with the US directly — only with Oman — but the important thing is this: a safe shipping route has been arranged near the Omani coast, and ships have actually begun using it. Oil prices fell on this good news.

Why is gold steady rather than jumping? Peace news affects gold in two ways. Less conflict means less “safe haven” buying, which softens gold a little. But lower oil prices mean lower inflation, which means less pressure for high interest rates — and that is good for gold over time. The two effects balance out for now. If peace truly holds, many analysts expect gold to rise toward $4,500 to $4,900 by year-end.

What this means for you: Gold is about 27% below its January record. A 50-gram gold necklace costs approximately $2,460 less than at that peak — attractive value, especially if prices climb later as analysts expect.

Our welcoming guidance:

For weddings, engagements, and gifts: prices are attractive and the outlook is improving — a good time to buy.

For long-term savings: central banks bought a net 41 tonnes of gold in May, and 89% of central bank managers expect official gold holdings to keep rising. Even cautious banks see $5,000 gold once interest rates ease.

For those who prefer caution: this week brings the important US jobs report on Friday, and the peace remains fragile — Iran and the US do not even agree on whether they are talking. Prices could move either way, so consider buying part now and part later.

A reassuring point: Gold just finished its first winning month in five and is up roughly 20% compared to a year ago. The world’s most careful institutions keep buying steadily — a strong sign of lasting confidence.

Important: The market is volatile. Please confirm the live price with us before you purchase. Almasa Alnasea is delighted to serve you, and we wish the region calmer days ahead.
